Kids playgrounds in Gungahlin

What are the ingredients for a fun playground? Variety, challenge, adventure? Gungahlin is blessed with some fantastic playgrounds which offer something for everyone – young and old!

Playgrounds are the perfect place for kids to burn off energy, get some exercise and maybe even learn something new. Here are some of our favourites.

Yerrabi Ponds Adventure Playground

Ideal for the thrill-seeker, this playground offers a huge flying fox (possibly the biggest in Canberra!), plus a giant Tarzan swing and a skate bowl. For the slightly less adventurous there’s a great variety of play equipment, bike paths and a basketball court. So there's plenty for little ones and big kids too! When everyone has worn themselves out, there's a BBQ area and picnic tables nearby with undercover areas offering shade or shelter from rain. Why not pack an esky and make it a fun day out for the whole family?

Crace Recreational Park

Built in 2012, the park's equipment is in great condition and provides outdoor facilities for all ages. The playground includes a variety of colourful equipment which little ones will love, such as a climbing frame, small hills to climb, poles to slide down, swings and spinning toys. For parents or older kids who are feeling energetic, the park includes exercise equipment and a full sized sports court for soccer, netball and basketball; so the park is ideal for sports lovers and perfect for big families. There’s also a half court with a tennis hitting wall as well as a cricket net and a skateboarding area with ramps.

Franklin Recreational Park

The colourful playground is divided into sections:

• Play: this area is for kids and offers a large climbing frame plus an area for the littler ones with small swings, a small slide and toys to play with. 
• Flex: offers equipment for adult exercisers plus a table tennis area (just remember to bring your own paddles and balls!) Nearby there's a basketball court and soccer field, with cage nets for soccer and rock climbing steps on the side.
• Skate: there are two skate bowls which are used for skating or bike riding. Why not test your skills? There's also a BBQ and picnic tables in the shade nearby.

Indoor play area in the Big W mall at The Marketplace Gungahlin

The play area is designed for toddlers and they love the hidey spaces, challenging climbing sections and fun slide. It’s also ideal if the weather is rainy or too cold and your little one needs to burn off some energy! The play area is conveniently located right near a selection of cafes, so you can grab a coffee and watch your little one play.
