Marketplace Laneway

on 07 January 2020 in General News

For the last couple of months, you may have noticed Marketplace undergoing renos where the entry/exit from Gungahlin Place is – with the end plan to create a new and improved Centre entry… but now you know what's actually in store for this space…

Come mid – March, Marketplace will be bringing the Greasy's experience to Gungahlin!

Marketplace Gungahlin since day dot has been the foodie meeting place for Gungahlin locals, with a diverse mix of cuisines and dining outlets. As the entire Gungahlin region continues to expand the Marketplace will continue to keep up with the dining demands of our community and will soon open The Laneway.

The Laneway will feature the first satellite restaurant for Braddon’s Grease Monkey, who will open their beloved burger and Detroit style pizza joint in The Laneway space! The Laneway is located in the prime position off Gungahlin Place and has the vantage point of two major transport hubs – Gungahlin bus interchange and the Light Rail stop.

Grease Monkey opened in Braddon in 2015 and has become a Canberra institution, pumping out almost one million burgers, independent craft beers, fried chicken and most recently, Detroit-style pizza.

The Greasy's Gungahlin team are looking forward to recreating the Braddon experience in Gungahlin where the new Laneway venue can seat up to 150 people. Gungahlin get ready for a cosy beer garden, live sport on six big screen TVs, and entertainment every Friday and Saturday night in celebration of the weekend.

Gungahlinites will soon no-longer have to travel to the city for a Greasy's burger, fried chicken and hot wings and Detroit-style pizza. The Gungahlin Grease Monkey team will also put on the same weekly food and drink specials and delivery for those who would rather eat at home! Plus, there will be a range of local and international wines, eight independent craft beer/cider taps, cocktails and milkshakes.

The Laneway space is complete with bright and edgy graffiti art commissioned by local artist Geoff Filmer from Graffik Paint, providing the perfect connection from the Marketplace to Gungahlin Place

Stay tuned, Grease Monkey Gungahlin is set to open in March 2020.
