Young & Frisky
30 & 33 Hibberson St, Gungahlin, ACT 2912
From the creators of Canberra’s favourite bar, ‘Hopscotch’ in Braddon, Young & Frisky opened on 29th April 2016, bringing a fun and casual dining vibe to Gungahlin. Specialising in fried chicken and whiskey, the bar’s unique name comes from a play on words with the Aussie rhyming slang for whiskey.
Young & Frisky offer an exotic and eclectic selection of scotch and whisky plus craft beers. As they are not contracted to any breweries, the bar features an ever-changing tap list, so they can experiment with different ales and microbreweries. They’ve also exclusively locked in a new local brew on tap, Capital Brewing Company.
Young and Frisky’s menu takes its inspiration from the southern states of America, featuring hot fried chicken as well as southern fried, so you can work your way through different heat levels – depending on your chilli comfort zone! There is also other tasty pub food such as chicken schnitzel, steaks and burgers, plus a Southern Fried Tofu Burger for any vegetarians. The menu also offers a range of sides that you’d find on a southern American menu – mac and cheese, mash and gravy, braised greens, crinkle cut fries, pickles, plus the usual pub food offerings that are sure to please.
With enough room inside for 200 people, Young & Frisky also offers outdoor space to fit about 60, with heaters at the ready for the cooler weather. With live acoustic music, plus DJs from 9-12, plan your next night out at Young & Frisky!
